The Funds app was built for a large bakery chain in Tamil Nadu, South India. The company has a user base of over 10,000 users, mostly in rural areas of the state.

The annual festivals of Diwali and Christmas are big spending occasions for the people of Tamil Nadu state, where people would gift packets of sweets and savouries to their friends and relatives.

Since its users found this large annual bulk purchase expensive, the bakery group has started a monthly EMI model, where people could subscribe and pay in monthly instalments and in turn get a significant discount for their annual bulk purchase.

For several years, thousands of users would visit the bakery outlets every month and make the payment. During the festival days, these users would visit the bakery and collect their packets of sweets in bulk.

Since smartphones, broadband Internet and digital payments have become ubiquitous even in the rural parts of India, the bakery decided to go digital, so its customers could subscribe and make the monthly EMI payments via an app.

Targeting rural users, we built a multi-lingual app with a simple and intuitive interface, that allows its mostly rural user base of nearly 10,000 users to register online and pay their monthly fee instantly via debit cards, UPI and Google Pay.

The app also allows its users to view their payment history, receive push notifications of pending payments and offers.
